Celebrating a bat mitzvah on a beautiful summer morning in Colorado
I’ve got another joyful Jewish bat mitzvah celebration to share with you all from the wonderful Congregation B’Nai Chaim located in southwest Denver in Morrison, Colorado. This time it was Aliyah’s turn to share her skills of reading from the Torah and leading the congregation in prayer. Prior to the service starting, we were able to squeeze in some family portraits outside where the lilac bush was still showing a few leftover blooms. We made sure to get some photos with grandma and grandpa as well as her cousins who had traveled in to celebrate this special day with her. We even managed to create a few quick portraits inside with the torah prior to the start of service as well.

I find B’Nai Chaim to be such an intimate and wonderful temple to step into when I’m photographing the awesome bar and bat mitzvahs that take place there. It’s such a welcoming community, you can tell that everyone knows each other and is quite friendly. And I am a fan of their music too. There is definitely a happy and joyful vibe inside their modest little building nestled in a little neighborhood community. And Rabbi Kim Harris always does a great job of explaining all of the significance of their Jewish Bat Mitzvah celebration rituals for those of us who did not grow up with the religion. Plus, she has an excellent singing voice!
Garden Decor from the family for this Jewish Bat Mitzvah Celebration
Not only did Aliyah do incredibly well during her service (I could tell she practiced hard because she sounded great!) but she also did a fantastic job putting together the table centerpieces for her kiddush luncheon after the ceremony. She had created little centerpieces with items found from her garden like air plants, moss, pinecones, little glass jars, twigs and more. She created a beautiful little forest tableau for each table. She and her family also provided their own floral arrangements of gorgeous peony flowers straight from their home garden. As an amateur gardener who is attempting to mold my own garden at home into something pretty I was a big fan of this. I even asked Aliyah to hold one of the white peony flowers for a couple of her photos.
Huge congratulations to Aliyah and her family on all of the hard work that must have gone into her Jewish Bat Mitzvah Celebration day! All of the hard work certainly paid off!
