elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Colorado Engagement Photos at Lost Gulch Overlook | Chautauqua Park in Boulder

November 22, 2017

Lost Gulch Overlook Engagement Photos

Omg, I am so in love with these pretty fall Lost Gulch Overlook engagement photos! I am super excited to share these gorgeous photos because they’re for my friend and former roller derby teammate, Major Lil Pain (I guess I’ll be boring and call her by her government name, Michelle, to keep things simple from here on out) and her fiancé, Jeff. We did these at the tail end of October up in Boulder when most of the fall color had disappeared. We did find a few little snippets of color but with the mountain views at Lost Gulch Overlook and the famous Flatiron Mountains of Chautauqua it really didn’t matter that we had missed the autumn color.

We made sure to time our session so that we’d be overlooking the city of Boulder right at dusk when the pretty light makes the sky turn a beautiful shade of purple and pink. And a big shout out to Michelle’s mom, Karen, for tagging along to play pet-sitter when Jeff and Michelle’s dog, Rudy, wasn’t required for a photo. We started off at Chautauqua walking around the adorable neighborhood behind the Chautauqua Dining Hall and made sure to grab a handful of photos in front of the iconic Flatirons.

We spent the majority of our session up at Lost Gulch scrambling around on the rocks and huge boulders over there to get the perfect mountain backdrops. You see, Michelle and Jeff are moving to Richmond for a career opportunity, so I wanted to make sure they get some awesome mountain pictures to help them remember the place they called home together during the first years of their relationship. Michelle is actually an Aurora native so it’s going to be a big change for her going down to the South. I know they’re both really excited for the big changes this next year will bring for them and I wish them nothing but the best!
