Seeing the couples that I’ve photographed weddings for grow into a new and bigger family together has got to be one of the greatest joys of being a photographer. It feels like it was only last year that I photographed Jacquie and Brock’s wedding up in Steamboat Springs but in reality it’s been almost 3 years. In that time, they created the cutest little baby boy who I think looks like an exact 50/50 version of his mom and dad!
Jacquie wanted to get some updated extended family photos for her little guy’s first birthday when her family would be in town. Turns out they live in an incredible house in Loveland with gorgeous mountain views and a lake too! Not everyone has the perfect backyard for pictures, but when you do, it’d be crazy not to take advantage of it. And that’s exactly what we did. While we waited for the sun to sink down a little lower we started off using the pretty vine covered arbor. We also were lucky enough to have some family friends on deck to help us get some smiles using the magic of bubbles! When I say it was a team effort to get this little guy to smile in his photos I truly mean it:) As you can see in the pictures, it worked like a charm!
Once the sun started to get softer and prettier we walked on over to the open space behind the house to catch the mountain views at sunset. Their house is situated next to a nice little private lake which added a pretty sunset reflection into their photos. It had stormed earlier (a hailstorm!) so that made the sunset even prettier than normal. I am in love with what we captured for this family that evening. Check out some of my favorites below!
