elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Shove Chapel Winter Wedding | Briarhurst Manor Colorado Springs

February 16, 2016

I sure do love a good Valentine’s Day weekend wedding. Last year my brother in law and his wife got married on Valentine’s Day and this year I was lucky enough to photograph Kristin and Kevin’s big day down in Colorado Springs. The color of Kristin’s bridesmaid’s dresses and the flowers were a beautiful dusty rose with plum mixed in. It looked perfect for the holiday and a wedding. They were married at the historic Shove Memorial Chapel on the Colorado College Campus. It’s a huge church with lots of gorgeous stained glass and a painted ceiling. It’s an incredible place to get married. I particularly like the big wood doors decorated with intricate swirly ironwork. The ceremony was a short and sweet affair and afterward we headed over to the Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs for the reception. The Briarhurst is a really beautiful Victorian style mansion and perfect for weddings. It has an English countryside manor feel due to its original owner being from England. (Interesting side note, he was also the founder of Manitou Springs!) Another thing I really loved is that the Briarhurst Manor is so close to Garden of the Gods. I was pretty excited that Kristin and Kevin were up for heading there after their reception to make use of the day’s last light for some romantic portraits of just the two of them. They are moving soon for Kevin’s military career so it’ll be nice for them to have these photos to remind them of their special day and of Colorado too.

Congratulations Kristin & Kevin!

These vintage cake toppers were so cool. Kristin’s grandparents had them as their cake toppers at their wedding. I love that she displayed them at her wedding.

My favorite!
