Man, I have to admit, September totally kicked my butt! It’s consistently the busiest month of the whole year for me and 2018 did not stray from that trend. It’s the time of year when fall color descends upon the high country and that means there is a huge influx of people wanting to take advantage of all the gorgeous scenery for everything from weddings to family sessions as well as seniors looking to get their yearbook photos turned in on time. I finally had more than a day to get into a groove behind the ol’ editing screen and that means this blog is about to explode with tons of new work that I’m super excited to finally get to share!
And I’m especially pleased that I get to start this explosion of pretty photos with Sam and Kevin’s stunning wedding at Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort. They started their day getting ready in Keystone which is the closest town to A-Basin with amenities like overnight accommodations. I started off the day with Kevin and his buddies at a condo where they were kind enough to get dressed way ahead of schedule just for me and my camera. After a brief visit with them I made my way down the street to stop in with the gals and their preparations for the big day. We then drove as one big group over to the resort where I held my breath as we gingerly made our way up the mountain to get some first look pictures and wedding party portraits prior to the wedding ceremony. We managed to coordinate our timing so that Samantha and the girls would be hidden away at the base of the mountain while guests began to arrive on the shuttle. One thing I just love about living in Colorado is that I get to see people from all over experience the fun of a destination wedding in our beautiful mountains. Their destination wedding experience at Arapahoe Basin means they get to hop onto the Black Mountain Express chairlift and arrive at the ceremony Colorado-style. After everyone is seated and ready to go, then the family and the wedding party arrive on the chairlift making for a fun and unique ceremony start. And this was the perfect crowd for such a cool wedding location. Kevin and Sam were total sweethearts to work with and so were all of the friends and family in their wedding party. And their guests were also up for all of the fun high up on that mountain top too. They all really seemed to roll with the laid-back atmosphere and I saw lots of people taking advantage of the new oxygen bar making it easier for them to party down on that dance floor all evening. I was impressed with the high number of people who managed to make it through the whole reception to send off the newlyweds in style with a sparkler grand exit. What an absolutely stunning and awesome day for this really great couple! I wish them all the best!
