It’s been a few years since I have had the chance to photograph a wedding at the rugged, wild, and summer camp-esque YMCA of the Rockies. So when Meridith phone me up to see if I could photograph her small wedding shindig there I jumped at the chance. She and her fiance, Ariel, were hosting their ceremony at the Program Fire Ring and when we began the sun was getting lower, but still quite bright as it is known to be here in Colorado. I loved that they both included their children in the ceremony as they officially blended their families together in a short and sweet ceremony near the main entrance to Snow Mountain Ranch.
After the ceremony we needed to get some family pictures created but I decided we needed to take them to an area with a little shade to work with until the sun started cooperating a little bit more. So we used this nice shady spot with lots of smaller douglas fir trees in the environment before we moved over to their reception space.
They hosted their reception party in the outdoor pavilion next to Schlessman Commons which has spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. We were rewarded for our patience in waiting to finish pictures up here because as the sun fell, the mountains turned a beautiful shade of purple which they are known to do in Grand County. I was happy as a clam finishing up the portraits with all of that pretty scenery bathed in the gorgeous sunset light. And it totally helped that Meridith and Ariel were head over heels for each other in love. They were so natural in each other’s arms that it made it hard to choose which photos to share here in the sneak peek. But I managed to choose some which you can scroll through below!
