Grand County Family Photos
I have the prettiest winter session full of Grand County family photos to share with the world today! Last week Geoff and I drove up to the Winter Park area of Colorado to photograph a proposal and to meet up with this extended family who was just arriving into town. They wanted to get some family photos taken at the very beginning of their trip so that they wouldn’t have to miss out on any ski days which is very smart planning on their part. Of course, traveling on I-70 from Denver to the ski resorts is pretty hit or miss these days when it comes to the traffic (dare I say mostly miss with lots of slow downs? Especially after we get some good snowfall!) so they were just a little harried upon arrival with not much time to get prepped for the pictures. We planned on using the last hour before sunset which is always my favorite time of day to photograph. But, on this particular day, it was pretty cloudy and overcast all day so the sunset time didn’t matter as much as it normally does on our bright sunny Colorado days. Still, they did such a great job getting all cleaned up and ready for their photos on a shortened timeframe and I think they look beautiful in their pictures.
Bright Jewel Toned Colors for Winter Family Photos in Grand County
I love the pop of yellow from their clothing paired with the blue mountains and white snow. They really stand out in all of that white winter wonderland scenery! It totally helped that the house they rented in Tabernash was located on top of a huge cliff with beautiful views of the mountains. Everything was covered in snow and the property was full of beautiful pine trees making it a stunning winter woods backdrop for their family photos. Even their littlest family member had fun outside in the cold fresh mountain air. However, by the end of the session, she had enough and decided it was time to pull out her adorable hair bow.
We ended with one last family photo as a group in front of the beautiful stone fireplace inside the the home. Here’s hoping they had a great trip relaxing together in front of that hearth with the flames keeping them warm!
