elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Historic Colorado Springs Wedding

June 14, 2013

Ashley & Matt chose two gorgeous historical venues to play host to their wedding this past weekend in Colorado Springs. They held their wedding ceremony on the Colorado College campus at the Shove Memorial Chapel and then hosted their reception at the old Mining Exchange building which is now the Wyndham Hotel in the downtown area of the Springs. Shove Memorial Chapel is definitely a challenge to photograph in since it is extremely dark inside. But it is a beautiful piece of architecture in the city and the grounds of the college outside never fail to disappoint as a backdrop for formal photos.

And this was my first time photographing at the Mining Exchange. The building has all of these neat old fashioned safes and special rooms that used be vaults where they stored gold in the mining stock exchange in Colorado. I also really loved the courtyard with cafe lights strewn across and a sort of New Orleans feel to it. The reception was held in the upstairs Platinum Ballroom which connects to an outdoor patio and featured beautiful exposed brick walls.

Ashley & Matt,
Congratulations! The wedding was a huge success. Everyone looked like they were having so much fun and I can safely say that your wedding was the first one I’ve ever photographed with such crazy athletic dance moves;)
Enjoy your honeymoon and we’ll be in touch soon!

Favorite!

Matt’s niece was seriously the cutest baby ever. She had this cute lil gummy smile plastered on her face all day. Even during the formals! She was a little party animal:)

That cool door is in the lobby of the Mining Exhange.

The hotel has kept the historic vault doors throughout the building like this one which hides a linen closet.

Here is just one acrobatic feat I was referring to above!

They are Pretty in Pink!

Matt’s brother wrote a kick ass song for them and performed it in place of his toast. It was hilarious!
