Maroon Bells Sunrise Proposal
I have the prettiest Maroon Bells sunrise proposal to share with the world today! I have had such a great summer with photography so far! One of the reasons for that is that I’ve had the opportunity to photograph a couple of surprise Colorado wedding proposals. The first one I’m sharing today took place at sunrise at one of Colorado’s most famous landscape views which is at Maroon Bells Lake near Aspen. People flock to this location (particularly in the fall when the leaves are changing color) to capture the two peaks known as Maroon Bells.
Charles knew he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Lizzy, at this iconic Colorado location. So we hashed out a plan together for how we could make that happen without spilling the beans. I have only photographed here once before and never at sunrise, but I knew that even though we’d be there at that painful early hour it didn’t necessarily mean we’d have the place to ourselves since landscape photographers arrive in droves to capture the bells as the alpenglow hits their majestic faces. I’ve heard that when it’s during fall season, they are elbow to elbow along that shoreline standing behind their tripods just waiting to catch the beautiful view with the beautiful morning colors.
Maroon Bells Proposal During Summer
So, my husband, Geoff, and I arrived incredibly early to carve out our own little section of the Maroon Lake shore in an attempt to keep it somewhat clear for Charles to get down on one knee with the brilliant Maroon Bells behind them. I am happy to report that all of our planning came together beautifully and their Maroon Bells sunrise proposal photos turned out stunning! I admit, I find proposals to be even more stressful than capturing a wedding because there is so much that you just can’t predict and there’s really no interfering once it’s going down since that would ruin the element of surprise! That said, there is an immense satisfaction afterward that the moment has been captured for the newly engaged couple. I was lucky enough to have my proposal captured on camera and it’s one of my favorite photos of us so it makes me incredibly happy to help make it happen for other couples in love.
