Family Photos in Forest of Colorado Mountains

January 1, 2020

Winter Forest Family Photos on Squaw Pass Road

Today’s journal entry features a set of gorgeous family photos in a forest up along Squaw Pass Road in Evergreen.  Nothing screams “It’s the holidays” quite like a pretty forest scene. Especially one covered in snow and full of evergreen trees.  What I like about this particular mountain forest is that it also has some aspen tree groves to add some classic Colorado scenery to these family photos.

Evergreen and Aspen Tree Forest Provides Gorgeous Family Photo Backdrop

This lovely family shown in the following photos decided to hire me so that they could take advantage of everyone being together for the holidays.  They wanted to capture their family together while they had the chance. One of the adult sisters now lives here in Colorado and her mom and sister came out from Missouri to spend some time with her here in the Denver area.  They trusted me to find a nice location for their photos and of course I had to suggest this pretty mountain meadow with an aspen tree grove. I think if I had to pick a favorite spot from this past year, it would win, hands down!  I love the way that aspen trees look so unique with their pretty white spotted trunks. And this location is extra special since it has a ton of evergreen trees too which add a lot of depth to the pictures. Plus, I love the splash of green during the dead of winter!

And of course, this location comes with a spectacular mountain view too.  I love to time my sessions to take place right before sunset so that by the time we are ready to capture the family pictures with a mountain backdrop we’re just starting to catch the changing pastel sunset colors.  It looks particularly pretty during winter against the white snow. I picked out some favorites from this photography session to share below!
