I cannot believe it’s already that time of the year when I sort through all of my favorite photos taken throughout the previous wedding and portrait season to curate my absolute favorite shots from each session and wedding. It’s usually not too difficult to narrow it down to a handful of favorites from each photography shoot since that’s what I do for all of them for the sneak peek blog posts. But only getting to choose 1 out of all of them? That’s not easy at all! But I like the challenge and it’s so cool to look back and see all of the great people I got to meet and the ones that I have developed relationships with and see how much they’ve changed throughout the years.
I also love creating this year in review journal entry since the photos help me relive all of the happy memories that were created with all of them. In 2017 I found myself driving up from Denver to the beautiful mountains of Colorado more than ever to photograph all of the families on vacation in this gorgeous state.
This year I continued to mix in various headshot sessions of the lifestyle variety meaning on location and showcasing a more environmental approach to the traditional business headshots normally seen.
I find that my high school senior work is also along this same vein mixing the traditional headshot type of photography with photos that are more environmental. One of the best new places I discovered for this type of work is in the Rino/North Denver area but I also enjoyed photographing more seniors in the high country this season.
I also greatly enjoyed reconnecting with couples whose weddings I photographed years ago who are now growing their family. And speaking of photographing weddings, I had so many kick-ass couples this year that I definitely feel spoiled! I photographed my first wedding in Crested Butte which I have somehow never had the chance to visit before despite growing up here in Colorado and it was incredible!
I returned to some of my favorite places like the Wedgewood on Boulder Creek, Arrowhead Golf Course, Denver Botanic Gardens and I even got to photograph another family wedding on the same private property in Buffalo Creek. I was also privileged enough to photographed some new beautiful venues like Church Ranch Event Center here in the metro area, Della Terra Chateaux in Estes Park, and a lovely little ranch called B Lazy 2 Ranch in Fraser, Colorado. I was also so excited that I finally had the opportunity to photograph the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park which I’ve always wanted to do and it was a derby girl wedding no less so that made it even more fun for me to do. There are plenty more exciting opportunities I was lucky enough to cover this past year but in the interest of getting to the good stuff (the photos!) I’ll end here.
Thank you SO MUCH to all of my marvelous clients who made 2017 such a beautiful year for me. I can’t express my appreciation to all of you enough! I hope that I get to reconnect with many of you in 2018.
Enjoy the 2017 best of the best photos below!
I’ll end with my favorite vacation photo from 2017:) I wish you all a very happy new year! Best wishes for 2018!
