Chatfield Farms Wedding Venue at Denver Botanic Gardens is one of my favorite wedding venues in the entire Denver Metro area. I love it so much I got married there on a rainy spring day back in May 2012 when it was known as Chatfield Botanic Gardens wedding venue. The gardens there are gorgeous, and it's full of vintage farm house charm. It's conveniently located in Littleton, Colorado just off of C-470 & Wadsworth Boulevard across from Chatfield State Park. Despite it's easy to get to location, it has the feel of a private organic farm retreat miles away from any city.
The Green Farm Barn (which is actually bright red) and large garden areas provide a beautiful backdrop for your rustic chic wedding celebration. This incredible barn was built in 1918 by the Green family and was renovated in 2006 for hosting private events. The large outdoor patio is 30x50 feet in size and provides an ample dance floor for those who want to dance under the stars. The barn boasts a huge beautiful garden on the east side of the barn along with a huge brick silo and to the west of the barn is a nice green grassy lawn under large trees. The barn can host up to 140 seated guests and up to 200 if you opt for standing room only. If you incorporate the surrounding outdoor areas you can host up to 500 people at the Green Farm Barn.
Across the dirt road from the Green Family Farm Barn is where Chatfield Farms hosts their annual fall corn maze. I have found that this is a great added bonus for the autumn weddings held there. It certainly provides one more fun and playful picture location for your wedding photos. Who doesn't want to take some time on their wedding day to get lost in a corn maze so you can give your new spouse some secret smooches?
The latest addition to Chatfield Farms is Deer Creek Stables. This is a beautiful fairly new white wood stable that is opened up on all sides and with gorgeous sliding barnwood doors. It fits in beautifully with the rest of Chatfield Farms with its rustic charm. I personally really love that it’s kept the feel of celebrating a wedding outside in nature while also providing good cover in case of bad weather. Deer Creek Stables can host covered seating for up to 225 guests and if you use the outdoor space around the building you can host up to 1,000 people!
From the north side of the Stables you can walk down a pretty wood boardwalk to arrive at the Prairie Garden Terrace. This gorgeous 1,600 square foot wood terrace is one hell of a place to dance the night away. It has been built around huge old Cottonwood trees which are decorated in twinkle lights. It’s truly a magical place for your party. There is room for up to 150 people for dancing and you can fit up to 60 people when seated.
The wide open grassy lawn of the Open Air Chapel complete with a wood gazebo is just one of the perfect spaces at Chatfield to hold your wedding ceremony. With views of gentle rolling hills and surrounded by trees and flower fields it's a gorgeous area for those wanting a separate space from the reception site.
Chatfield Farms also has a few different options for spaces where you and your wedding party can get ready for the big day. The first is the Polly Steele Nature Center which is generally used in conjunction with the Green Farm Barn since they are right next door to each other. The best thing about the Polly Steele Nature Center is the gorgeous enclosed wood wraparound porch. If you are using the Deer Creek Stables side of Chatfield Farms you can use the historic Deer Creek School House which was built in 1874. It’s an adorable 1 room school house with tons of natural light pouring in. I could see this space doubling as an indoor option for a smaller wedding ceremony or reception too. There is a cool firepit just outside the backdoors and it’s an easy walk to the Prairie Garden Terrace.
There are lots of great options for hosting weddings of various sizes here at Chatfield Farms. If you love vintage, rustic, farm house style weddings it’s a must visit wedding location in the Denver metro area. It's hard to beat this convenient location!
